The Vitrine de l'Histoire project offers residents and visitors of Ressons-sur-Matz a unique immersive experience of discovering local heritage.

Across fifteen historical stations spread throughout the city center, each screen-printed glass panel displays a period photograph of the location alongside a current photograph of the same spot, accompanied by a QR code that provides access to enriched content on the municipal website. This includes links to archival films from the period, significantly enhancing the historical experience. Each station offers an accessible walking route of approximately one kilometer, inviting leisurely historical exploration while fostering this essential intergenerational connection.

This digital heritage initiative transforms this small town of 2,000 inhabitants into a veritable open-air museum, showcasing the rich history of this fortified town, which dates back to 1430 and was marked by both World Wars, particularly the First World War , during which it served as a cantonment for Allied troops. The project is a continuation of the Musée Territoire 14-18 , a memorial program supported by seven inter-municipal communities in the Oise and Aisne departments.

Recognizing that not all residents are familiar with digital technologies, we have also created a heritage book compiling all the historical content. Available on this website for a minimum price of 10 euros, this book allows everyone to access local history. All proceeds go directly to the municipal library, run by a local association, thus supporting the community's cultural life.

This project constitutes a true bridge between the older generations, custodians of local memory, and the new inhabitants of this city.

Officially inaugurated on November 11, 2025 by the mayor of Ressons-sur-Matz, this project illustrates the municipality's commitment to an inclusive transmission of heritage, adapted to all audiences and all generations.
